  • September Warriors of the Month

    Congratulations to Ruth Gainzar and Jonathan Uland on being selected as our September Warriors of the Month. Ruth and Jonathan were selected by our faculty as demonstrating outstanding character, service, and leadership in the school and community. Ruth and Jonathon will be recognized at the September 19 school board meeting.

  • Changes to Pep-Rallies

    Changes to this year’s pep-rally schedule were driven by students who wanted to ensure that our other sports were recognized throughout the year. Cheerleaders and Drill-Team members were also in favor of the decision in order to extend the pep-rally season into their competition season so they would have a venue to practice for competitions. Students who only participate as spectators in pep-rallies also supported the decision to decrease the amount of instructional time lost to pep-rallies at the beginning of the year.

  • New BHS Design Update

    BHS teachers and administrators including Crystal Buckaloo, Chris Dickson, Paul Westbrook, Beth Mizell, Staci Hunnicutt, Gretchen Shook, and Gloria Smith joined Dr. Marvin Beaty, Bill Wakefield and Stantec Architects Terry Hoyle and Lorenzo Navarette for site visits to area school districts. The objective was to see a variety of school designs and configurations in planning for the new high school. The group visited newly renovated McKinney High School, Reedy High School in Frisco, and McMillen High School in Plano ISD.

  • Welcome Mr. Prock as BHS Principal

    Bonham High School Principal Dave Ketcher has decided to return to retirement after serving as the BHS Principal for the past two and a half years. Previously retired from Lake Dallas ISD, Ketcher came to BISD as an interim Principal in January 2014, following the retirement of Steve Hill. We are pleased that Mr. Ryan Prock will take over the ranks as BHS Principal effective immediately. Mr. Prock is currently the Principal at L. H. Rather Junior High and is eager to advance to his new position.

    Meetings between BISD staff, architects, mechanical/electrical consultants, roofing consultants, civil engineer and the contractor are occurring twice each week to finalize the footprint of the building.

    The 2016-2017 school year brings campus administrative changes within the district, as Principal positions are filled within our ranks with current Assistant Principals. BISD is proud to announce the new administrators advancing into the Assistant Principal positions at both I.W. Evans Intermediate and L.H. Rather Junior High.

  • Bonham High School Design Update

    On May 7, the Bonham ISD stakeholders voted to pass the $30 million bond to build a new Bonham High School. Since the election, District administrators, BHS staff and Stantec architects have been diligently working on the schematic design of the new building.

    Bonham ISD is proud to announce Mrs. Karli Fowler as the new Principal at I.W. Evans Intermediate. In 2015-2016, Fowler served as the Assistant Principal at Evans, working under the leadership of Susan Baker, who resigned from Principal at the end of the year.

  • New BISD Board Members Take Oath of Office

    The Bonham ISD Board members took the oath of office at the Special Board Meeting held on Thursday, May 12. Serving two-year terms are Chance Roberts in Place 1 and Dana Porter Roscoe in Place 2. Beginning a three-year term are Sean Floyd in Place 3, Jason Fox in Place 4, and LaTonia Arris in Place 5. Returning to the Board for the remaining year of their term is Lance Davis in Place 6 and Chad Burnett in Place 7.

  • BISD Honors National Police Week

    In honor of National Police Week, BISD showed our appreciation to our local law enforcement officers. I W Evans honored our Bonham PD with gifts and a card for the department's police dog, Kato. Finley-Oates put together treat bags for the Bonham PD officers as well as Fannin County Sheriff's deputies. Bailey Inglish students worked together to make a personalized poster for the officers to hang in their office. Mrs. Rattan, Mrs. Fox, and Mrs. Baker delivered the goodies to the officers today. Thank you to all of our past, present, and future officers for all that you do to keep our students and community safe!

  • BHS Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

    Three Bonham High School athletes signed letters of intent to play at the next level. Lexi Orsak will play soccer at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS in the Fall. Leighton Hartwell and Bryson Jones will both continue their baseball career in the Fall. Leighton moves on to Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma and Bryson will be attending Ecclesia College in Springdale, Arkansas. Congratulations to our Lady Warrior soccer and Warrior baseball programs on the success of these athletes!

  • BISD Responds to Federal Transgender Bathroom Policy

    In Bonham ISD we do not condone bullying or discrimination of any kind, for any reason. And, when it is noted we take action to prevent such behavior. At this time all students, teachers, staff and visitors shall continue to use the restroom facility for which God equipped them. And, there is no plan at this time to retreat from that platform. I believe this decision is representative of the values embodied by the citizenry of Bonham, Texas.

  • Bonham ISD Passes $30 million Bond

    When the Bonham Independent School District called a bond election in February, district leadership wanted the voters to tell the school district what to do. On Saturday, Bonham voters voiced their support of building a new high school campus after approving a $30 million bond proposal. The proposal passed 68.18 percent (977 votes) to 31.82 percent (456 votes).

  • Election Results Statement from Dr. Beaty

    I would like to personally thank all of the Bonham ISD stakeholders who exercised their civic duty and voted in the May 7, 2016 election. An incredible 1433 people voted in the Bonham ISD election, which included five Board of Trustees seats and the $30 million bond for a new high school. The stakeholders have elected to pass the BISD bond election, with a total of 977 (68.18%) votes for the bond and 456 (31.82%) votes against the bond. A total of ten candidates ran for election in five open seats on the BISD Board of Trustees.

  • Bonham ISD Voters Head to the Polls

    On May 7, Bonham ISD registered voters will go to the polls to vote in the school bond election and the Board of Trustees election.At the February 15, 2016 meeting, the Board of Trustees voted upon the Long Range Facility Planning Committee recommendation by calling a bond election for $30 million to focus on the needs at Bonham High School. The bond proposal includes construction of a new high school, multipurpose center, theater arts stage, expansion of current weight room, provide a new fire alarm and roof on the current vocational building, and asbestos abatement and demolition of the current high school. The proposal recommended saving the gym and vocational facilities which reduces the overall cost of a completely new high school facility.

  • Fannin County SSA Appreciation Week

    Fannin County Special Education SSA has planned a week of celebration April 18-22 in honor of Staff Appreciation Week. The FCSSA staff serve Blue Ridge, Bonham, Dodd City, Ector, Fannindel, Honey Grove, Leonard, Sam Rayburn, Savoy and Trenton ISD’s. Being spread over the ten districts we serve, it keeps everyone very busy. The hard work and countless hours each one puts into their job does not go unnoticed. The dedication you show to the students and their families go above and beyond any job description. Thank you for all you do!

    The Finley-Oates PTO invites the community to attend a public forum with the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees candidates. The PTO organized this event in order to give the candidates an opportunity to get their message out to the voters and simultaneously help the voters make an informed decision at the polls.

    Early voting will take place from April 25-May 3 from 8am-5pm at the Fannin County Courthouse. Voting is open extended hours on April 28 and May 3 from 8am-8pm. Election Day is May 7, with polls open from 7am-7pm.

  • Rotarians Learn of Proposed Facility Construction

    On Wednesday, March 23, Rotarian and B.I.S.D. Superintendent Dr. Marvin Beaty invited Scott Miller to join him in presenting an informative program to the Rotary Club on the Bond election which has been called for May 7. Dr. Beaty informed Rotarians of the process which led to the election being called, reviewed the tax rate and fund balance history, and the projected tax rate impact on homeowners if the constituents choose to pass the bond election.

Each month, two employees are recognized from across the district for excelling in their professional area. In March, BHS Chemistry and Physics Gretchen Shook was recognized as Teacher of the Month and Lisa Russum, BHS Principal’s Secretary, was selected as Paraprofessional of the Month.

  • Bonham ISD Wins State Communication Awards

    Bonham ISD Communications recently earned five prestigious 2016 Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards for excellence in school communications. The awards were announced February 24 at the association’s annual conference in Horseshoe Bay. Leslie Crutsinger, BISD Communications Specialist, is an active member of the TSPRA organization and accepted the awards at the annual conference.

  • Register Now for Fall 2016 Head Start

    Applications for 2016-2017 Fannin County Head Start are now being accepted for children within Fannin County who will be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1, 2016. Children that are already in the program do not need to register again. Children with disabilities are included in the regular program, with individual education and special services as needed.

    The War Dancers competed in their second competition tonight at The Colony High School, and the team knocked it out of the park! They have worked tremendously hard since their last contest, and they received better scores as well as bigger awards this time around.   • Warrior Stadium Receives ADA Updates

    In February 2014, Bonham ISD received a complaint notice from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation regarding the ADA compliance at Warrior Stadium. BISD was given the opportunity to create a plan and respond to the complaint with the plan of action to bring the stadium into compliance.

  • Bonham ISD Board of Trustees Calls School Bond Election

    The Board’s charge to the committee was to offer the Board of Trustees a thorough list of projects that merit consideration over the next ten years. After thorough analysis and cost consideration of all needs, the committee developed a recommendation for the Board of Trustees to call for a $30 million bond election to address what they determined are the school district’s most pressing facility improvement needs, which are all centered upon the high school.

Each month, an employee are recognized from across the district for excelling in their professional area. In February, Brandy Godbey, Business Services Specialist, was recognized for her hard work and dedication to the efficiency in the Business Services department.

  • Bob Utter Ford Sponsors BHS Test Drive Event

    Bob Utter Ford Lincoln Kia, Bonham High School, and members of the local community raised $1,680 for Bonham ISD extracurricular activities at a test-drive event earlier this year, as part of Ford Motor Company’s Drive 4 UR School program. More than 80 Bonham area residents test-drove a Ford vehicle during the event. For every person that drove a Ford vehicle and completed a survey, Ford donated $20 to the school. Blake Utter presented the check to Bonham ISD Athletic Director Tony Johnson prior to Friday’s Varsity boys’ basketball game.

  • Lady Warriors Earn All-Texomaland Honors

    Seniors Erika Porter and Amanda Edwards were recently named to the Volleyball All-Texomaland teams. Erika was selected as All Texomaland First Team. Erika was previously named the Offensive MVP in District 12-4A, with 663 kills, .408 hit percentage, and 301 digs. Amanda was named All-Texomaland Honorable Mention. Amanda was previously named First Team in District 12-4A.

    We are excited to announce that Bonham High School's Cosmetology Program is expanding and will now be open to the public every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. beginning February 4th. We have some great students involved in this program and are excited to be able to provide them this opportunity!

  • Free After School Program Offered at Finley-Oates

    Della's House of Giving Afterschool Program at Finley-Oates begins this week. This program is FREE and provides homework help, enrichment, and food for all students who attend. Care is offered until 5:15pm every school day. A registration form was sent home with the students and it is not too late to get a child enrolled in the program. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers at Della's House of Giving for this opportunity for our families!

    The December students and staff of the month were recognized at the Board of Trustees meeting held on Monday, December 14. Each month, two employees are recognized from across the district for excelling in their professional area. In December, the Maintenance & Transportation department was given the opportunity to recognize two staff members for their outstanding service. They chose to honor Judy Lewis, department secretary, and Melissa Daniels, Transportation Specialist.

  • Student Work Displayed at Winter Art Festival

    The Bonham High School and Junior High came together to host a Winter Art Festival on Tuesday, December 8. Art was displayed throughout the auditorium for parents and guests to admire and L.H. Rather art was sold to visitors as a fundraiser for their art program. BHS displayed a variety of different styles of artwork, including art that was entered into the Fannin County Fair earlier this semester. After the art viewing, the BHS Theater department performed A Charlie Brown Christmas followed by the Outsiders.

  • Students Tour A&M, UT, and Baylor

    Bonham ISD is excited to offer our college bound students an opportunity to tour university campuses for the second consecutive year. Last year, several tours were planned and proved beneficial to students deciding their next step after high school. December 1st and 2nd, junior and senior students traveled by bus to tour Texas A&M, University of Texas at Austin, and Baylor University. The students learned the admissions criteria and experience first-hand what campus life is like in the residence halls and the overall college experience.

    The Bailey Inglish campus of Bonham ISD held a high-energy rollout rally to celebrate the next stage of implementation of the Apple ConnectED grant. Balloons, banners, and apple-themed decorations set the stage for the teacher rollout party on Monday, October 26.

  • Ag Project Center Construction Timeline

    The floor plan is a 100’ x 160’ structure and is designed for both small and large animals. Glenn engineering has surveyed the land and drew a topographic map to determine optimum site placement of the barn. The three location recommendations will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the regular meeting on Monday, October 19.

    Bonham High School is proud to offer several great opportunities to their students this academic year. We have organized two overnight college tours and six day tours to various colleges and universities, with the first overnight trip in November.In order to keep the costs down for our students, we are seeking donations from the community.

  • Capital Projects Update from Dr. Marvin Beaty

    In the fall of 2013, the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees approved a list of numerous facility improvement projects recommended by the Capital Projects Committee. It has been nearly two years since the district secured the money to improve a multitude of facilities. The list of capital improvement projects was extensive and has improved facilities across the district, aligning with one of the board goals: to provide our staff and students with the best facilities possible. In order to remain transparent, Dr. Beaty has provided a detailed update on the current state of these projects and has answered additional questions of public concern.
