Welcome to Mrs. Speck's Class!

Can you believe we are halfway through the year?  It is truly flying by.  Your children are working hard every day!  They are such a wonderful group of kids and I am so happy to see the progress they are making.  We continue to work together to become better readers and problem solvers.  They are really enjoying eating breakfast in the classroom this semester.  I am proud of how helpful and responsible they are being and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

If you need to let me know of a change in your child's dismissal for the day, please call instead of emailing.  I do not always have time to check my email during the school day.

Class schedule:
7:45 - check notebooks, morning work, breakfast in the classroom
8:00 - math/small groups/centers
9:30 - recess
10:00- 11:45-reading/language/small groups/centers
11:45 - 12:15 lunch
12:30 - reading and math intervention/sustained silent reading time
1:00 - science or social studies/small groups/centers
2:05 - PE and specials
3:15 dismissal

The kids have been reading and AR testing like crazy!  The way to become a better reader is to keep reading every day!

We recently took our mid year math and reading benchmark tests.  Your child brought a score report home in their 3rd 6 weeks report card.  We will continue to review and practice for the STAAR tests coming up in April.  Encourage your student to come to school ready to work hard every day!
