Creating Folders 

 

1. RIGHT CLICK in the area you wish to make a folder:
          a. My Documents
          b. Desktop
          c. Within an existing folder
          d. C: (drive) or any network drive
          e. Floppy (with the floppy inserted into the drive)
2. Select NEW
3. Select FOLDER
4. A folder will appear with the text highlight in blue
5. BEGIN TYPING new folder name
6. Press ENTER

**THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO REMEMBER IS TO RIGHT CLICK WHERE YOU WANT THE NEW FOLDER.

 

  Moving Existing Documents into Folders

 

1. OPEN the LOCATION where the document is located, but don’t actually open the
document itself.
2. If the location where you want the document moved is different, RESTORE the
above screen.
3. OPEN the LOCATION where you want the document moved, if different.
4. CLICK and DRAG the document into the folder – until the folder name is
highlighted.
5. RELEASE the mouse.

*If the document is coming from a floppy, the document will still be on the floppy after moving it to the folder.

*If the document is coming from somewhere in your computer, it will then move to the folder and NO longer be located in the original place. However, this is usually your purpose when organizing folders.
