When faced with difficult decisions, the answer is always do what is best for the kids.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions
I know we as staff, our students, our parents and our community are all looking around at what other Districts are doing with regards to this and that......how are we/they recognizing the Seniors, how are we/they handling school facilities or how are we/they planning for prom or graduation. It is hard to not compare ourselves to others, experience periods of self-doubt or have feelings of inadequacy.
What I do know for certain is that each decision that has come from me has been thoughtfully considered from many different perspectives - the least of which being my personal preference or emotional opinion. I look to our state leaders; Governor Abbott and TEA Commissioner Mike Morath are providing guidelines for every aspect of the educational process. Our administrative team researches, discusses and often tweaks our strategies along the way so the best interests' of our students and staff are served. And of course at the forefront of my mind is the health and safety of approximately 2,200 students and staff; I could never forgive myself if I made a flippant decision that put an individual's health or safety in harms way.
So my message is two-fold. First, every Superintendent and school district staff have to make decisions on how to best serve their students, staff and community with the information they are given. I am extremely proud of how BISD has delivered a total package - top-notch education with a compassionate personal experience. Secondly, I choose to not judge others' decisions until I have truly walked a mile in their shoes, in their community and with their students, staff and citizens. All I can ask in return, is that BISD is afforded the same amount of grace.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION APPRECIATION DAY
Without our bus drivers, our classrooms would be missing many students!!
Our Bus Drivers are often the first or last people our students see for the day - what an awesome impact they can have!!
In these last several weeks, our bus drivers have been delivering meals to students in need!!
I appreciate ALL the things our transportation staff do for the students at Bonham ISD in order to ensure they arrive at school and back home safely.

SCHOOL LUNCH HERO DAY
Wow - our Child Nutrition Staff are working completely 'outside of their box' (and serving line) this spring. They are making and distributing meals in a totally different way from what they are accustomed. I am so proud of the way they have adapted to feeding around 1,300 students each day!!
In my heart I know that many of our students would have growling stomachs without these meals each day.
I appreciate ALL the things our child nutrition staff do for the students of Bonham ISD in order to ensure they have nutritious and delicious breakfast and lunch meals.

Finley-Oates Pergola
The First United Methodist Church 'adopted' Finley-Oates several years ago and the partnership they have formed is nothing short of amazing.
Church members donated this pergola to Finley-Oates to provide shade on the playground. The pergola was installed on the playground that is on the west side of the building.
Installation was finished this week and I can't wait to see students utilizing it in the fall!!

Let's Be Like GEESE Con't
Lesson 2 for educators: If we have as much sense as geese, we will stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We will accept their help and give our help to others.
From time to time, one of the flock will become sick or injured. When this happens and the goose has to land on the ground to recover, two geese will always follow the sick or injured bird. They stay to help and protect the bird until it recovers and can rejoin the flight or dies.
