The Best
The best of society should aspire to be teachers or work in schools.
Education does more than shape and mold the future; education IS the future. Teachers and support staff respond to a calling for many different reasons - some of you wanted to emulate a teacher that positively influenced your life while others desire to provide the opposite of what you needed and didn't receive. I think most teachers enjoy that moment the lesson 'clicks' for students; you celebrate their successes and accomplishments because you know the hard work that led to that point. Finally, as I reflect on the best, those that have chosen to be Purple Warriors, I am proud that you show up each day willing to give your all to make sure your students have all they need to be successful not only for today - in your class - but for life.
Sometimes, you don't have the benefit of seeing the students you taught all grown up and independent in the world. You may never see them graduate, start their first job, marry, become parents, retire or grow old. There will be some of you lucky enough to follow a few former students. I imagine that you will feel a little bit of pride that you may have had something to do with their success. What you must remember is that you do make an impact and you do have an important role to play.
Over the course of your career, some of you have the potential to positively impact the lives of over 5,000 students. Wow - what a heavy burden to bear! This is why I believe the best should become teachers and work in schools. This is also why I am glad to serve here in Bonham alongside of 340 of the best who are making a positive difference every day.
Thank you,
Kelly

I know what a challenging job our school counselors have each and every day. Our students come with many needs and they each find a way to support them when and how they need it.
I appreciate their service to the students, their parents and therefore our community! Our school counselors play a large role in shaping the future.
Thank you Ashleigh Petrino, Jennifer Green, Laura Milford, Dr. Joel Blaylock, Jennifer Harris, Tori Whitlock, Meredith Loftice, Libinka Marvin and Desiree Parker!!

State of the District 2021
I put together a comprehensive State of the District for the 2021 year - from January to December 2021 - to share with the Board of Trustees, staff and the community. It showcases all the wonderful things are District IS and DOES!
There are eight sections that I will highlight over the next 8 weeks - both on social media and in my newsletter.
The first section is 'District Information'. It contains demographic information from our October 2021 snapshot data. This gives you sense of who makes up our District and is part of the Warrior Family.

Coaches Against Cancer
This was the idea of Coach Bockman and Coach Hicks who have both been closely touched by cancer in their personal life.
Coaches wear blazers and tennis shoes to show their support. In addition, we chose for our gate collections for the January 25th basketball games to be donated to Mrs. Patsy Wilson, son of William Farris – who is an educational aide in the TSS classroom at I.W. Evans. Patsy is battling cancer currently.
$524 in gate collections plus an additional $365 in donations were collected totaling $889!
In addition, the life of Mrs. Debra Hardy, long-time employee of Bonham ISD, was honored with a moment of silence before the game and her picture showing in the hall.

I.W. Evans GT Students Compete at Future City
I.W. Evans GT students competed in Future City and brought awards back to BISD!
The team composed of Colton Walker, Kadan Villareal, Thatcher Morrow and Jorge Flores Montoya won 3rd place for Most Futuristic City.
Cortni Douglas, Brekel Dunlap, Leia Deas and Nazaret Rodriguez-Lopez competed in the Best Essay portion.
Both teams are coached by Mrs. Pat Goodwin who does a phenomenal job teaching our elementary GT students. Each year, she ensures they work on several projects and some are in a competitive arena.

Students in Mrs. Hargadine's Forensic Science classes completed a trajectory lab last week. Students used nerf guns to help them simulate a shooting. They then measured the distance and angle at which the gun was shot.
